Biomania, the annual fest of Department of Biochemistry, Daulat Ram College was organized on 20th January 2023. Dr. Rama Jayasundar, Professor and Head of Department of NMR, AIIMS, New Delhi was the guest speaker of the day under the programme ‘Meet the Scientist’ held every year. Dr. Rama Jayasundar enlightened the students about Ayurveda, its diverse benefits and pace in today's era. She elaborated about how Ayurveda being an alternative medicine system has always been historically rooted to the Indian subcontinent. Biomania included a vivid variety of events which were both science-based and encompassed other subjects like general knowledge, oration skills, etc., hence paving the way for students to take active participation in it. The various events included the poster presentation, speak to lead and brain teaser. Dr. Neeru Dhamija and Dr. Anita Goel were the Convenor and the Co- Convenor respectively for the event.

Department of Biochemistry, Daulat Ram College organised a webinar under “Meet the Scientist” on 4th February, 2023. The webinar started at 8 PM and the attendees joined through a Meet link. Dr. Vishal Sahni, Director of Corporate Business Development and Strategy at H. Lundbeck served as the speaker for the night. Dr. Vishal talked on “Drug Discovery in Neuroscience: A personal and Industry Perspective.” The talk ended with a very interactive Q/A session by students. Around 90 students and faculty of biochemistry department attended the talk. Dr. Anita Goel and Dr. Neeru Dhamija were the Convenor and the Co- Convenor respectively for the event.

An International Workshop on Public Health, jointly organised by Department of Biochemistry, Daulat Ram College (Under the aegis of IQAC) and Delhi School of Public Health, IoE, from 17-19th January, 2023. Prof. Daman Saluja, Chairperson, Research Council, University of Delhi was the Chief Guest for the workshop. Dr. Santwana Kar was the inaugural speaker for the event. Prof. Padmshree Mudgal, Dr. Meenal Dhall, Dr. Jyoti Taneja, Dr. Priya Bhardwaj, Dr. Anita Garg Mangla, and Dr. Neeru Dhamija were the resource person for the workshop. Dr. Anita Garg Mangla, and Dr. Neeru Dhamija were the Convenor and the Co- Convenor respectively for the event.

An online Skill development program on Enhancing Learning through ICT Tools was organized on 26th and 27th November 2022 for Ist year biochemistry students. Prof. Padmshree Mudgal was the Course Coordinator and Dr. Anita Goel was the Course Co-Coordinator. The SDP was conducted with the objective to equip, familiarize with and acquaint students with various digital platforms such as Google classroom and Google meet and to enable students to be trained in ICT tools such as MS PowerPoint, MS Word and MS Excel. Thirty students participated in the SDP. Dr. Anita Garg Mangla, Dr. Neeru Dhamija, Dr. Anita Goel, Dr. Narendra Kumar, Dr. Neeraj Dohare and Dr. Radhika Gupta were the resource person for the SDP.

Biochemistry department participated in ‘Gyan Utsav-2079’ Self Reliant Bharat through education, 17-19 November 2022, organized by Siksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, New Delhi, at PUSA Campus New Delhi. Biochemistry Department put up a stall representing Daulat Ram College. Posters of the Recycling unit, Zebrafish lab facility and Drosophila Resource center, were displayed and live demonstration of zebrafish embryo, wild type and mutant drosophila and PTC testing was done on the stall. Dr. Neeraj Dohare and Dr. Narendra Kumar accompanied 11 students from Biochemistry Department to participate in Gyan Utsav. Daulat Ram College stall was the most visited stall at the exhibition by Vice Chancellors of various Universities, Professors and other educationist.

Department of Biochemistry in collaboration with State Blood Cell, Maulana Azad Medical College, and BHOR-Living Humanly Foundation organised a Thalassemia screening camp and awareness drive in the college on 14th October 2022. Dr. Ranjana Mishra, Medical officer, Thalassemia Screening and Prevention Program, Genetic Division LNJP and Dr. Ambika, Paediatrician, Mission NEEV, Maulana Azad Medical College & associated Lok Nayak Hospital served as the keynote speakers. Dr. Anita Garg Mangla, and Dr. Neeru Dhamija were the Convenor and the Co- Convenor respectively for the event.

One Foreign student Lisa did two courses in biochemistry in a foreign student exchange program from July 2022 to November 2022.

On 1st December 2022, 4 students of Daulat Ram College went to attend the 2023 G20 Delhi Summit, which was scheduled to take place in the Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. India formally assumed the G20 Presidency from Indonesia and to mark the first day of India’s Presidency, several activities were planned. The event began with an inaugural speech that emphasised on the G20 Presidency theme - “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” that is, ‘One Earth One Family One Future’. A number of Universities were connected to the event virtually which brought together students from 75 universities across the country. The University Connect event aimed at engaging the youth in the G20 activities. The Vice Chancellors of Amity University, Delhi University, JNU and various other universities were also a part of the event. External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar and Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, Shri P.K. Mishra were among the distinguished speakers at the event. A number of questions were addressed by the Minister of External Affairs. Also, the delegates were invited for lunch and a gift was arranged for all.
