Dr. Rita Rani

Dr. Rita Rani is a seasoned academician with over 20 years of experience in teaching economics. She has been serving as an Associate Professor at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, since 2006. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics, awarded in 2008 for her research on “Productivity trends and returns to scale in food product industries in U.P. with comparison to all India”. She completed her post-graduation in 1997 and qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) in June 2000.

Dr. Rani has taught a wide array of subjects, including Principles of Economics, Developmental Economics, Environmental Economics, Public Economics, Indian Growth and Development, Research Methodology, Basic Statistics, Indian Economy, and Development Theory and Experience. Her teaching style emphasizes interactive engagement through classroom discussions, black/whiteboard teaching, presentations, assignments, MCQs, and online sessions.

Beyond her teaching contributions, Dr. Rani has played a vital role in the academic and administrative life of Daulat Ram College. She has served as Teacher-in-Charge of the Department of Economics for three sessions and Teacher-in-Charge of the Department of Sanskrit for one session. She has also held key responsibilities during her tenure at Daulat Ram College some of the prominent responsibilities were, Convener women development cell (WDC), Convener of the Grievance Committee, Convener Observation Committee for Admissions, Convener National Service Scheme (NSS), and Co-Convener of the Teaching Programme Committee (TPC). In addition, she has been an active member of numerous college committees over the years.

Outside the classroom, Dr. Rani enjoys traveling, engaging in thoughtful conversations, reading, crafting, painting, and stitching. Her research interests include productivity analysis, development economics, and the study of structural dynamics within the Indian economy. Her commitment to academic excellence, paired with her creative interests, make her a respected and well-rounded educator.
