Dr. Sumita Chakraborty

Dr. Sumita Chakravorty -sitarist of Hindustani Classical Music, working since 1996 in DU and presently working as an assistant professor in Daulat Ram College North Campus.

Her books and articles are regularly being published, became a disciple of pt. Padmabhushan Debu Chaudhary . Senior Disciple of Padmabhushan and Padmavibhushan of Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia.

Professional performance:

AIR prasar bharti approved and Doordarshan approved artist and performer. Approved artist from ICCR(Indian council of Cultural relations). Has judged various competitions at interschool/intercollege/interstate level. Solo performance of Rakhmaninov music club, embassy of Russian Federation 24 feroz shah road new delhi. Solo performance in bhatkhande music festival at alliance francaise auditorium 72 lodhi state new delhi. Solo performance at 20 lodhi road lok kala manch under the banner of glimpses of indian art and culture at vasuki auditorium. Solo performance at IGNCA mansingh road delhi. Solo performance under the banner of Deshkal Society IGNCA and ministry of culture at bodhgaya. Solo performance under the banner of Deshkal society at Nalanda. Performed many times in college at saraswati puja, Ghandhi jayanti, alumni and annual functions.
