Dr. Sushila Kumari
I (Dr. Sushila Kumari) have been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sanskrit at Daulat Ram College, University of Delhi, since January 25, 2023. Before this, I worked as an Assistant Professor (Ad-hoc) at Lady Shri Ram College for Women from 2016 to 2023 and at Lakshmi Bai College from 2015 to 2016.
My area of specialization is Indian Philosophy, with particular emphasis on Nyāya and Vaiśeṣika schools of thought. I completed my Ph.D. in Sanskrit from the University of Delhi in 2015 with a thesis titled “Praśastapādācārya sammata nitya dravya nirūpaṇa kā ālocanātmaka adhyayana” and an M.Phil. (2011) on “Nyāya darśana meṃ siddhānta padārtha nirūpaṇa.” I completed my M.A. in Sanskrit from Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2008 and also qualified the UGC-NET with JRF in Sanskrit in June 2009.
My academic interests include Indian Philosophy—especially Ontology, Epistemology, Logic, and Debate. I have taught various undergraduate courses such as Indian Culture, Sanskrit Literature, Logic, Ayurveda, and Poetics. I am currently supervising one doctoral research scholar whose thesis work is in progress under my guidance as part of the Ph.D. program.
I have also contributed to curriculum design as a committee member under the UGCF framework in line with NEP 2020, specifically in the development of the undergraduate syllabus. I have been one of the subject experts in a workshop at NTA Office of the Senior Director (Examinations and Research), Okhla, New Delhi.
I authored the book Vaisheshik Darshan Men Nitya Dravya-Nirupan and have published over a dozen research papers in UGC Care-listed and peer-reviewed journals. My work, featured in journals such as Jigyasa, Vaak Sudha, Jyotirved-Prasthanam, Shabdarnav, and Vaagarth, explores themes like Abhyupagama Siddhānta, the concept of Atma, and Manas in Vaiśeṣika.
I have presented more than twenty research papers at various national and international seminars and conferences, including the International Yoga Conference, Akhil Bhartiya Sanskrit Vidushi Sammelan, Rashtriya Vaidik Sanghoshti, and the International Congress of Vedanta.
To enhance my academic and pedagogical expertise, I have completed over twenty Faculty Development Programmes and Refresher Courses covering areas such as Advanced Research Methodology, MOOC and E-content Development, ICT Tools, and NEP 2020 implementation. These were conducted by institutions like the University of Delhi, PMMMNMTT, Guru Angad Dev Teaching Learning Centre, Hansraj College, and SGTB Khalsa College.
In addition, I have participated in more than twenty-five national and international workshops and webinars on themes such as Manuscriptology, Ayurveda and Nutrition, Online Sanskrit Teaching, Sanskrit Terminology, and Navya-Nyaya. Alongside teaching and research, I have been part of organizing committees for key events such as the One Day International Symposium (2024), International Seminar on Bhartiya Sanskriti evam Gyan Parampara (2024), the International Sanskrit Vidushi Sammelan (2023), and an online certificate course on Indian Culture, Language & History (2022).
