Spic Macay

‘The Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture Amongst Youth’ is a voluntary non-profit youth movement dedicated to promoting both the tangible and intangible aspects of Indian and world heritage. This cause is accomplished through organizing programs and workshops on Indian culture with the theme of Indian Classical Music and Classical Dance. The movement was initiated in 1977 by Dr. Kiran Seth and has since then established chapters in over 850 cities across the world. SPIC MACAY’s core-mission is to enrich the quality of formal education by raising awareness about the diverse aspects of Indian heritage, as well as inspire the young minds to embrace the values embedded in it. To accomplish this, the organisation invites highly accomplished artists from the country to present programs on Indian Classical music and dance, folk traditions, poetry, theatre, traditional paintings, craft, and yoga. Through these immersive experiences, SPIC MACAY aims to encourage youth in exploring and appreciating the mysticism inherent in the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry of Indian and world Heritage. By doing so, it aspires to instil the essence of beauty, grace, values, and wisdom embodied in these arts and hopes they will profoundly influence the way people live and think, inspiring them to become better human beings. SPIC MACAY SOCIETY-Daulat Ram College Chapter has been working incessantly towards this objective.
