Academic Year 2022-23

The Mathematics Association Affine started the year with its most celebrated event – Freshers’23 with the theme “Relation and Integration of 1990’s and 2023” to initiate the thrill and excitement with inviting the newbies to step-up from their comfort zone and evolve through Affine.

The annual fest “Shoonya” was organised by the association on 20 March 2023 with great zeal and enthusiasm. On the occasion, a lecture was delivered by Prof. Ajay Kumar, an esteemed dignitary who works as a senior scientist at National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) on the topic “Completeness Property of Real numbers”. Numerous fun filled academic activities were organised by the students to entertain the students.



Association also organised a session with Chahal Academy on taking up UPSC as a career option and a session with Dips academy on how to prepare for IIT JAM. The sessions were well received by students and motivated them towards various career options.

Academic Year 2021-22

The association organised a webinar on “Current trends in Science and Technology” on 3rd September, 2021 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. on Google meet. The keynote speaker of the webinar was Dr. S.K. Varshney, who is currently designated as Advisor and Scientist at Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. The webinar was attended by around 150 students.

The association organised a webinar on “Mathematical Modelling, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” on 22nd September, 2021 from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. The guest speaker was Prof. T.V. Vijay Kumar who is the Professor and Dean of School of Computer and System Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University with keen interests in Databases, Data Warehousing, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Nature Inspired Algorithms, Disaster Management, Big Data and Analytics.

The Department of Mathematics also organised a lecture on the topic “Beauty of Mathematics” by Prof. Shabd Sharan Khare, Retd. Professor, Department of Mathematics, North Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong on 21st October 2021. The lecture gave the students an insight into the beauty of mathematics in nature like occurrence of Fibonacci numbers as sizes of leaves and beauty of symmetricity.

Shoonya, the annual fest of Mathematics department was held on 2 April, 2022 in an online mode via Google meet. An informative talk was delievered by our guest speaker, Dr. Rashmi Bharadwaj, on the topic “Bridging the gap for solving real life problems”. For a high-octane dose of enthusiasm and entertainment, events like Ad-mad, Treasure Hunt, Mathematical Tambola and Mathematical quiz were organised for the students.
