Discipline and Grievance Redressal

To accomplish its mission of quality teaching-learning in a safe environment, the College has, in accordance with UGC regulations, a strong grievance redressal mechanism. There are several committees (sub-committees of the Staff Council) which work towards the resolution of issues in a time-bound manner once complaints are received by the College. Depending on the nature of the complaint, the College directs the representation received to the relevant committee.

Students can make a representation regarding their grievance to the College. They can either email their grievances to daulatramcollegedu@gmail.com or submit the representation to the Office.

Academic Grievance Redressal Committee

The college has an Academic Grievance Redressal Committee. The composition of the Committee is as follows:

  • Vice-Principal
  • Bursar
  • Two Senior-most Teachers

The Principal functions as an appellate.

This committee addresses student grievances as and when received. The cases addressed by this committee include grievances related to:

Internal Assessment

Change of course

Miscellaneous Complaints related to any issue faced by students in their departments or Students’ Society or related to infrastructure.

Internal Assessment Monitoring Committee

While adhering to the University norms regarding Internal Assessment (IA), the College has retained the flexibility to allow teachers to design the pattern and schedule of internal assessment to best suit the domain requirements of the course being assessed, and the profile of the students attending the course. Keeping in mind the requirement of the course and needs Members Academic Grievance Redressal Committee Internal Assessment Monitoring Committee Grievance Redressal of students, different methods like assignments, projects, quizzes and class presentations are employed for continuous assessment.

The finally compiled Internal Assessment (IA) score is shared with students, and displayed on departmental notice boards for at least a week. IA scores are also uploaded on the college website, and accessible to students. In addition, during the pandemic, platforms such as Google Classroom allowed for easy online sharing of assessed scores. This allows for a prompt correction of errors, should any occur.

Three layers of grievance redressal:

  1. Students can bring issues regarding evaluation and any discrepancies in IA marks to the concerned teachers. Teachers try to address evaluation related issues with fairness.
  2. Each department has a Moderation Committee that comprises the Senior-most faculty member, the current Teacher-in-Charge and the previous Teacher-in-Charge. The committee scrutinizes the IA submitted by each faculty member before submission to the college, to ensure consistency across courses.
  3. Once the IA has been submitted, it is also scrutinized by the College IA Monitoring Committee. The IA Monitoring Committee is a statutory body which deals with grievances which cannot be directly handled at the departmental level.

The composition of the Internal Assessment Monitoring Committee is:

  • Vice Principal/ Bursar
  • Secretary, Staff Council
  • IQAC Coordinator

The college has an internal complaints committee in accordance with the University notifications pertaining to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressed) Act, 2013 and the UGC guidelines of May 2016 on the same. Proctorial & Anti Ragging Committee

The Proctorial Committee is concerned with maintaining discipline in the College. It is a representative body comprising faculty members and elected student representatives.

All students are required to maintain good discipline and a congenial environment while studying in the college. The students shall not indulge in activities amounting to an act of indiscipline such as:

  • Defacing the building or any structure and damaging the institute property.
  • Use of mobile phone in the academic areas including lecture rooms/ halls, corridors and the library.
  • Any other act, which is deemed by the competent authority to be an act of indiscipline.

Any student who indulges in an act(s) of indiscipline such as the above will face severe disciplinary action(s).

Ragging is an offence. The Proctorial Committee will undertake preventive and prohibitive anti-ragging measures as per Ordinance XV-C, University of Delhi. At the time of admission Members and at the beginning of an academic session, every student has to give an undertaking pledging non-participation in any form of ragging. Every student is provided with a booklet on the University of Delhi Anti-ragging Ordinance. This should be adhered to strictly.

Admission Grievance Redressal Committee

Admission Grievance Redressal Committee looks into grievances of SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwD category applicants. It consists of three members with the Liaison Officer as its Convener.

PwD Admissions are facilitated by Enabling Society.

Besides this the Public Relations Office (PRO), Admissions addresses the needs/queries of aspiring applicants.

The College follows the University rules for admissions in toto. As per the University guidelines for Admissions, the College appoints a Nodal Officer, Admissions. The Nodal Officer coordinates with the Admission Committee constituted by the University and takes up queries/ issues with them.
