Imagism (Poetry Society)

Imagism is the Poetry Society of Daulat Ram College. The society aims at creating an encouraging environment for budding writers where they can weave their thoughts and emotions into words. The society provides a platform to all poets and writers to explore their talent further and showcase it in front of the entire world. Imagism, originally, refers to a movement that took place in the early 20th century in England and America that prioritized the art of precision and clarity in expression and poetry. Inspired by its name, Imagism offers an avenue where artists of today learn to bring about peace even in rawness and chaos, painting the world with the colours of alluring words. The society believes in providing a holistic approach towards writing so that the writers could reach the highest pedestal of their abilities. For this, various events and fests are organised throughout the year for the students to discover and sharpen the depths of writing. The events encourage participation of the students within the society, college and students from various other colleges and universities. Apart from poetry, the society also encourages development of various other types of creative writing skills. Backed by the perseverance and hard work of the teachers and the union members who constantly organize various sessions and seminars, the society is an amazing platform for students to enhance their existing skills and discover the potential of new talents and endeavours.
