MAGIC LANTERN & SEPIA– FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY SOCIETY
The College Film and Photography Society provides a platform for students across disciplines to creatively engage with these two powerful forms of expression. The Society helps students to understand related critical and aesthetic issues in order to have meaningful conversations and discussions around the same. Students who wish to enter the field of audio-visual media and journalism will especially benefit from this forum.
Magic Lantern
The College Film Society, introduces the students to critically acclaimed films, thereby enabling them to appreciate and analyze films. Magic Lantern was the precursor of the motion picture projector used as a means of visual storytelling. In its earliest form it used transparent glass slides with paintings to project images on to a screen and the name conveys the wonder and magic that was and is inherent in moving visual images.
Sepia
Sepia as the name suggests, conveys the sense of history and nostalgia inherent in capturing a moment through still photography. The College Photography Society organizes workshops and discussions with experts in the field to facilitate a better understanding of the craft and develop an eye for details. The Annual Photography Exhibitions -- Decipher and Taabeer are much awaited events in the Society’s calendar .
